Tokio Marine Kiln hires Technology Media E&O head

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has announced the appointment of Thomas McShane as the head of technology and media errors & omissions (E&O).

McShane will take on the role in January 2025 and report to Laila Khudairi, the departmental head of cyber and enterprise risk at Tokio Marine Kiln.

In this newly created position, McShane will focus on bolstering TMK’s global cyber and technology proposition.

He will be crucial in supporting technology and media businesses, leveraging his expertise in technology E&O to complement the company’s existing cyber and intellectual property services.

McShane’s responsibilities will also include driving portfolio growth across key markets such as the UK, US, Europe and Australia.

This aligns with TMK’s business commitment to its specialty lines of business.

TMK cyber and enterprise departmental head Laila Khudairi said: “TMK has been at the forefront of the cyber market since its inception. In this rapidly evolving class, we have continually sought to evolve and diversify our offering, bringing a level of threat analysis, underwriting expertise and claims service which is second to none.

“Appointing Thomas to deepen and extend our offering to technology businesses is the latest example of our philosophy in practice.”

McShane transitions from Axis, where he led the E&O team, shaping the strategic direction of its portfolio, crafting complex policies for open market technology businesses and adapting product offerings to the evolving risk landscape.

His prior experience includes underwriting professional indemnity lines and cyber at Allianz and AIG.

Last month, Tokio Marine Kiln named Stephanie Hong as marine underwriter for the Asia–Pacific region.
